With the participation of 65 children with disabilities Fun and useful times in... Summer Caravan 2025
Under the slogan (Summer Caravan 2025), and with the participation of 65 children of various disabilities and nationalities, who will be served by approximately 20 qualified volunteers, the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) is organizing, from July 14 to July 31, 2025, at Al Amal School for the Deaf in the Yarmouk area, a summer center for people with disabilities, sponsored by Al Hamad Building Contracting Company.
Organized annually since 1986 under the directives of Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SCHS, the Foundation Department aims to provide recreational, advisory, and educational services to people with disabilities, providing them with fun and entertainment, and bringing smiles to their faces, especially for those whose parents' circumstances prevent them from traveling.
The center's goals are to make summer vacations more enjoyable and beneficial for individuals with disabilities, to unleash their potential, to encourage indirect learning and creative and innovative approaches to learning, to develop and enhance a variety of talents, and to show that individuals with disabilities have the right to leisure and enjoyment.
The objectives also include providing an inclusive, cooperative environment between persons with disabilities and the community, assuming social responsibility, and implementing the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities regarding inclusion, equality, and non-discrimination. The objectives also include promoting the social integration of persons with disabilities and encouraging them to volunteer and engage in community service through activities, workshops, educational and recreational trips, activating volunteer work, and attracting and motivating young people to work in the field of persons with disabilities.
Along with art and educational workshops, cultural events, sports, and interactive and instructive health and music programs, the center's schedule also offers leisure travel. The center will offer services for hearing impairment, autism spectrum disorder, severe and multiple disabilities, and mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
SCHS is keen to include people with disabilities in the summer center's activities, striving to provide an appropriate environment for integration and raise community awareness of their abilities, skills, and talents. This will enhance their self-confidence and contribute to developing their talents in various fields.
