SCHS SIGNS A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH SHARJAH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) and Sharjah International Airport Authority signed a memorandum of understanding reflecting their shared commitment to upholding the principles of inclusion, sustainability, and social responsibility. The memorandum of understanding aims to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two sides and develop an inclusive and sustainable travel environment that takes into account the needs of people with disabilities and the elderly, thereby increasing their independence and active participation in society and improving the quality of services they receive in line with best international standards.
The memorandum was signed at the headquarters of SCHS in Al Badi’ suburb “Barashi neighborhood”, in the presence of Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SCHS, His Excellency Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport Authority, His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority, and Her Excellency Mrs. Mona Abdul Karim Al Yafei, Director General of SCHS, along with a number of officials and administrators from the two institutions.
Based on the common conviction that creating an inclusive society can only be accomplished through the integration of roles between governmental, service, and community institutions, this memorandum is an extension of the partnership and cooperation approach adopted by SCHS and the authority in order to provide more comprehensive services that address the needs of various segments of society, particularly people with disabilities and the elderly.
Joint Action And Sustainable Development
This time, Her Excellency Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi reaffirmed that one of the essential pillars for attaining sustainable development and creating more equitable and inclusive communities is meaningful institutional relationships.
She said, “This document shows our strong belief in the value of working together to serve mankind and advance its right to unimpeded access to a range of services and facilities. From this vantage point, we are pleased with our collaboration with Sharjah International Airport Authority, which has a similar goal of empowering the elderly and disabled and encouraging their full involvement in society. ”
She added, “Experience has demonstrated that offering inclusive settings and accessible services not only benefits those with disabilities but also enhances everyone's quality of life. With the help of this agreement, we hope to strengthen corporate social responsibility and create a culture of inclusivity and sustainability by increasing collaboration in the areas of training, awareness-raising, expertise sharing, and service creation.”
Her Excellency pointed out that SCHS, since its establishment, has worked to build an integrated system of partnerships with various governmental and private entities and civil society organizations, believing that empowering people with disabilities is a shared responsibility that requires concerted efforts and integrated initiatives.
A Commitment To A More Holistic Travel Experience
For his part, His Excellency Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport Authority, affirmed that the cooperation with SCHS embodies a shared vision based on empowering people with disabilities and supporting their active participation in society, stemming from a commitment to providing a travel environment that takes into account their needs, independence, and ease of access to services.
His Excellency continued, "The partnership with SCHS, with its expertise in the fields of rehabilitation and empowerment, offers opportunities to develop quality initiatives that contribute to improving the services provided to this group in society and enhancing institutional awareness of best practices related to dealing with them, which supports their quality of life."
His Excellency stressed that the Authority is keen to expand cooperation with community institutions, believing in the importance of establishing a more inclusive environment that supports the participation of all segments of society in the development process.
A Tour Of SCHS's Facilities
Following the signing ceremony, the Sharjah International Airport Authority delegation toured a number of facilities at SCHS, during which they learned about the specialized programs and services offered by SCHS in the fields of education, rehabilitation, training and community support.
During the visit, the delegation also viewed the products of "Takween," an initiative of SCHS, which focuses on empowering students and showcasing their productive skills. The delegation expressed its admiration for the displayed products. They also visited the Sharjah Autism Center and Al Wafa School for Capacity Development, where they learned about the latest educational and rehabilitation programs and practices implemented there, as well as the services provided to students, beneficiaries, and their families.
Towards A More Sustainable And Inclusive Future
The memorandum of understanding reflects the two institutions' common goal of investing in people and improving their quality of life by creating services, increasing their effectiveness, and broadening their application in a way that adapts to societal shifts and fulfills beneficiaries' desires.
