DELEGATES FROM THE GENERAL AUTHORITY OF CIVIL AVIATION OF SAUDI ARABIA VISITS SCHS

As part of the cooperation between the General Authority of Civil Aviation in United Arab Emirates and the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) received on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia delegation.  This cooperation aims at developing the services offered to persons with disabilities in airports. Mr. Thamer Ali Abdul Rahim Mufraj, Director General of Operational Planning for Airports, chaired the delegation.  Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim, Director of SCHS, received delegates.

After a tour in SCHS classes and sections in which delegates learned about the services offered to persons with disabilities according to the best practices worldwide, Mr. Thamer has confirmed that persons with disabilities right to travel easily in a way that suits their needs.

On the other hand, the delegates attended a lecture on Tuesday, April 23, which Mrs. Mona presented in collaboration with Mr. Majid Osaimi Member of Supreme Committee for the Protection of Persons with Abilities Rights in Dubai Government.  They both talked about the best way to handle persons with disabilities in airports and their rights.  They confirmed the concept “Nothing about us… Without us” regarding persons with disabilities choosing their own way.

Mr. Thamer said, “The level of services offered by SCHS matches those offered in the most advanced countries.  We were happy to talk with persons with disabilities inside classrooms”.  He has praised the educational strategies that SCHS incorporate in order to develop the knowledge and the skills of persons with disabilities in every area of life.

In addition, Mufraj has praised SCHS leading role in empowering, advocating, and including persons with disabilities as well as raising awareness of their rights.  This results in reflecting a true image of persons with disabilities and the work done to integrate them and improve their life quality.

For her part, Mrs. Mona Abdel Karim has confirmed that SCHS works constantly in order to consolidate the relationships of cooperation with local, regional, and international bodies.  It strives to endorse the concept of social responsibility and plant the values of volunteerism, initiation, and social innovation in order to raise awareness of persons with disabilities rights in every area of life including traveling and tourism.

Mrs. Mona has pointed out that raising awareness of the nature of each disability and explaining its needs to people of interest and different bodies would contribute to integrating persons with disabilities into society.  SCHS will not spare an effort and will work constantly in order to raise people’s awareness about disability issues and cooperate with individuals and institutes to advance the level of services offered to them.
