Feb 29, 2024

Al Amal School for the Deaf, affiliated with the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) students were able to add a new achievement to their record of excellence by winning the first level of mental arithmetic of the 8th national competition of the Smart Brain International Program for Mental Arithmetic. The contest was organized by Smart Brain International Company on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in the presence and patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Hind Bint Abdul Aziz. Al Qasimi who is an honorary member of the Ataa Hamdan volunteer team.

The outstanding students at Al Amal school are: Aisha Al Shamsi (first place), Mayed Al Zaabi (second place), Yousef Muhammad (third place), and Abdullah Al Mandoos (fourth place). Their excellence came amid wide participation in the competition from various schools in the Emirates.

To mark this occasion, Ms. Afaf Al-Haridi, Director of Al-Amal School for the Deaf, expressed her pride in the achievements made by the students. She congratulated them on their victory and wished them to continue training and developing their skills so that they can participate in international competitions and achieve outstanding results as achieved by the school’s students (Abdul Rahman Nasser Ahmed and Khalifa Abdul Ghafoor Amir Al Madani), who won first and second places after their participation in the 24th session of the UCMAS competition, which was held in 2020 in Cambodia.

Al-Haridi was grateful for the parents' support of their children and encouragement to attend and continue training, as well as their collaboration with the school administration.

She clarified that in order to get ready for the tournament, the school hired the Smart Brain International Center to train sixteen male and female pupils while five teachers oversaw them. Subsequently, Smart Brain International in Thailand authorized "Muhammad Ali," the math teacher, as a qualified trainer, and he began training the school's student body.

By having its students compete in this tournament, Al Amal School for the Deaf hopes to enhance their mental math skills and higher-order thinking abilities. This is attributed to the benefits of scientific competition as well as the fresh perspectives and opportunities it gives deaf children for personal growth, skill development, and inclusion with their hearing peers.
