Since 1986, and under the directives of Her Excellency Sheikha Jamila bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Director General of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), the city has been organizing its annual summer event. This year, under the theme "Summer Caravan 2025", the program aims to provide a safe, educational, and entertaining environment for children with disabilities during their summer break.

Program Details

The summer center will take place at Al Amal School for the Deaf – Al Yarmouk Area, from June 30 to July 31, 2025, with the participation of 65 children from various disabilities and nationalities, supported by a dedicated team of around 20 qualified volunteers.

In addition to the main center in Sharjah, SCHS branches in Kalba and Khorfakkan are also organizing their own editions of Summer Caravan 2025, offering local programs tailored to their participants.

Program Goals

  • Deliver integrated educational, recreational, and guidance services for children with disabilities.
  • Provide joyful and engaging experiences, especially for children whose families cannot travel during the summer.
  • Foster skills development and creativity through indirect learning and innovative activities.
  • Build self-confidence and community inclusion for participants.
  • Promote social responsibility and youth volunteerism.

A Variety of Inclusive Activities

The program offers a rich selection of activities, including:

  • Interactive and educational workshops in health, music, and arts
  • Cultural, academic, and sports activities

Participating Groups

The center welcomes children with the following disabilities:

  • Mild to moderate intellectual disabilities
  • Autism spectrum disorder
  • Hearing impairment
  • Severe and multiple disabilities

Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Integration

Through this initiative, SCHS is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that empowers persons with disabilities, enhances community awareness of their talents and capabilities, and aligns with the principles of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities—namely inclusion, equality, and non-discrimination.
