1979 | SCHS Establishing

The Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services was established in 1979 as the first specialized organization in the United Arab Emirates for disabled people.

1986 | Summer Club

The first to organize a summer club for the disabled in 1986.

1987 | Al Thiqa Club

The first to support and advocate sports for the disabled by the establishment of Al Thiqa Club for Disabled in 1987.

1987 | Almanal Magazine

The first to issue and publish a specialized monthly magazine for the disabled Al Manal Magazine since May 1987, and the second after the Kuwait Disabled publication.

1988 | Driving Licenses

The first to achieve the demand of people with disabilities to obtain driving licenses in collaboration with the Department of Traffic and Licensing Sharjah Police 1988.

1991 | Removal of Barriers

First to call for the removal of barriers after the General Secretariat of UAE Municipalities issued a law regulating construction and the need to provide facilities for the disabled in 1991.

1993 | EIC

Through the establishment of the EIC in 1993, the EIC was the first institution to introduce early detection and intervention services to the Arabian Gulf region.

1994 | Autism Spectrum Disorder

The first institution to introduce a specialized service for autism spectrum disorder in the United Arab Emirates, during the academic year 1994 - 1995.

1995 | "ART"

The first to employ "art" for people with disabilities in the United Arab Emirates by establishing the Emirates Special Art Group in Sharjah, in October 1995.

1996 | Association of Families of People with Disabilities

Established the first Association of Families of People with Disabilities in the United Arab Emirates, called the Future Association. The first founding meeting was in November 1996.

1999 | Sign Language

The first to introduce sign language translation to TV stations in the country since November 1999.

2008 | Conference for the Siblings

Organized the conference for the siblings of disabled people, which was the first in the Arab world and second in the world in April 2008.

2008 | Color in Music education

The first Emirati institution to introduce color in music education into the curricula for teaching people with intellectual disabilities since May 2008.

2009 | Self-Advocacy

SCHS adopted a “self-advocacy” concept for people with intellectual disabilities in January 2009.

2010 | Artistic Creativity Group

SCHS established the Artistic Creativity Group for People with Disabilities, independently and complementary to the Emirates Special Art Group, in December 2010.

2013 | Music Therapy Program

The first Emirati institution to introduce a music therapy program, in cooperation with Ewha University of Korea, into the curricula for teaching students with disabilities since January 2013.

2015 | Smart Education Program

Al Amal School for the Deaf has joined the Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Education Program as the first school for the deaf in the country since 2015.It has also been accredited for the sixth year in a row as a model school by Microsoft.

2017 | Art for All Center “Falaj”

The opening of the Art for All Center “Falaj” in March 2017 as a pioneering center in advocating, including, and empowering creative people with disabilities in the various fields of arts and culture in the UAE and all countries of the Arab world.

2017 | The Media Production and Training Center

The Media Production and Training Center was opened by His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah on November 22, 2017,affiliated with the Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, to be an incubator for creative people with disabilities to qualify and integrate them into visual and electronic media work.

2017 | Advanced Automated Bank “ATM”

Sharjah Islamic Bank, in cooperation with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, launched the first advanced automated bank “ATM”, the first of its kind in the Middle East, serving several categories of people with disabilities on January 8, 2017.

2018 | The agricultural nursery

The launch of the agricultural nursery with the Sharjah Municipality Gardens, managed and operated by people with mental disabilities, on April 30, 2018.

2018 | Al Zahia Smart Farm

Launching the Al Zahia Smart Farm project, the first of its kind in the region, at the SCHS branch in KhorFakkan to achieve electronic transformation in organic agriculture - November 18, 2018.
